v1.01 - Post-Launch Updates + Feedback

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR KIND SUPPORT.

I am so blown away by everyone's support, kind words, and time spent trying CLIMB. There is quite no feeling like having people play and engage with something you've made, and especially for my first ever game, that's a special feeling I'll always cherish.

I am also appreciative of all the feedback and bug reports I've received, which has led to this v1.01 patch.

Patch v1.01

  • Fixed FPS slowdown after player presses R (Restart Game function) too quickly upon death
  • Fixed accidental wall hook/climb bug when jumping up against a wall/surface (hopefully)
  • Changed Death SFX to something less abrasive on the ears (and doesn't sound like your headphones/speakers are dying)
  • Reduced Shooting SFX volume so it is less abrasive on the ears
  • Added 'W' as alternative Jump key
  • Added a Reduced Screenshake version of the game (downloadable-only) for those that find the screenshake too nauseating
  • Kept aimbotting goblin archers to continually frustrate players ;)

What's next for CLIMB?

I've had people ask me if I intend to keep working on CLIMB. I've always intended for it to be a micro game project, so technically it is done and dusted. However, I appreciate that people are still playing and trying it long after launch, so I will likely continue fixing issues for the time being.

I also am considering adding new levels but I recognize that with how challenging the game currently is, people seem to only have the energy for a handful of playthroughs and I've not yet had someone tell me they've completed it all the way to the end. So by keeping it to just 5 levels, I hope people treat that as a goal to overcome, and feel a sense of accomplishment by reaching the end. By adding more levels, it might be unnecessarily prolonging the challenge. We'll see.
